LOGIT! THE M100 NOTEBOOK CLUB 100 LIBRARY - 415/939-1246 BBS, 937-5039 NEWSLETTER, 932-8856 VOICE LOGIT.BA is a program that allows you to make short notes and log them using the TIME, DAY and DATE funtions of the M100. LOGIT was developed for the purpose of creating a short record of phone conversations for people who make frequent use of the phone for business. To use LOGIT, simply put the widebar cursor over the LOGIT.BA file on your main menu and press RETURN. You will have a new menu that makes use of function keys F3, F4 and F8. F3 - GO Pressing this key will prompt you for the name of the person referenced in your conversation. After entering the person's name and pressing the ENTER key, you will be returned to the LOGIT menu. To enter a note, press F4, NOTE. F4 - NOTE Pressing this key after you have finished entering a name under F3 will allow you to enter a message of 6 lines to a maximum of 256 characters. *** CAUTION! *** If you exceed the 256 character limit, you will be given the message "TOO LONG!" AND your message will not be captured! You will then need to reenter the entire message, but in a slightly shorter form. If your message extends into the bottom line of the screen press ENTER and save. Upon being returned to the LOGIT menu, press F4 NOTE again and continue your message. This 2nd message will be appended to the original without any header, as if it were part of the original note. F8 - MENU When you complete the message input and press ENTER, you return again to the LOGIT menu. At this point, press F8 to exit to the M100 main menu. What makes LOGIT unique is the creation and updating of a date oriented file, and a header for each entry within the file which lists the DAY, DATE and TIME of each entry into the file. Thus, if you record your phone conversation entries right after the conversation, you will have a time log of when the conversation took place as well as a note on the contents of the conversation. The first entry of each day creates a new .DO file. The file name is a DAY-DATE identifier. The first 2 characters of the file name represent the day of the week; the next 4 characters represent to month and date in numeric format. Thus, the first use of LOGIT on Friday, May 30, 1986 will create the file: FR0530.DO. The first use of LOGIT on Monday June 2, 1986 will create the file: MO0602.DO. All subsequent entries on the same date the file is created will append to the current file. At the end of a day or week, you can print out the contents of each file and have a hard copy of your phone notes for the day/week. HINTS: If the conversation is with someone that you do not normally deal with and you may want to call back, begin the NOTE with the person's phone number. If you are using your home as your office, and you are using your personal phone line for business, ALWAYS enter the phone number of person you are talking with. When you get your monthly phone bill, you can use a highlighter to identify all business calls, and then total up the charges. A great convenience for tax purposes. Set-up a separate 3 ring binder to keep your LOGIT hardcopies. *************** This program was developed by the inimitable Rick Hanson and refined by the refined Bill Templeton.
