CLUB 100 Library, Modem 415-939-1246 SLICER.BA (COPYRIGHT 1988 by John J. Gaudreault) =A SHAREWARE PRODUCT= SLICER.BA is for one purpose, to cut up files that were appended to the DISK DRIVE or RAMDISK, or were downloaded from another device, and are larger than the WORKSPACE permits (29.6K) for manipulation. SLICER.BA was written to work only with the BOOSTER PAK from TRAVELING SOFTWARE. It will create a series of files smaller than 19K so that they may be edited. Those files may later be appended to RAMDISK or FLOPPY DISK to create a file larger than the WORKSPACE will allow. When you run SLICER.BA it looks for SLICER.DO in the current DIRECTORY, and if it doesn't find SLICER.DO then it creates it. If you had created SLICER.DO before SLICER.BA had made it then you could have entered three lines of data. Each must end in a carriage return (ENTER). The first entry is the name of the file you want to slice up. The second entry is the size of the file. The third entry is the size of the RAMDISK. Be sure that all sizes are accurate. If you didn't create SLICER.DO, SLICER.BA will create it. If you did create it but didn't enter the data in it, or if you didn't create it SLICER.BA will prompt you for the data and enter it in SLICER.DO. If you had entered the data into SLICER.DO then when prompted by SLICER.BA the data will be inserted for you, and ENTER will accept the data. If you wish to change it just type over it. SLICER.BA will next clear the display and present a new screen. The data entered will be displayed and the number and size of files to be created by SLICER.BA will be displayed. You will now be prompted for the device from which to get the file, ENTER will automatically accept the default of RAMDISK. If you choose DISK DRIVE then ENTER will accept the default of BANK 0. Next you will be prompted for a destination device, ENTER gives the default of RAMDISK. If you choose DISK DRIVE as the destination then ENTER will accept the default of BANK 0. If DISK DRIVE is the source then the RAM DISK is automatically choosen as the destination device. At this point you will see the prompt; ESC/V/ENTER, ESC aborts to the DIR menu, V allows you to change the size of the new files and or the number of files. ENTER will accept all values as displayed and proceed to slice up the file. It might be a good idea to be running on AC power, because depending on the size of the source file, it may take a relatively long time to slice up the source. When the process is over press the SPACE BAR, you will be returned to the DIR and SLICER.DO will be killed. If an error should occur then you will return to the RAMDISK after a error message. You can check the data in SLICER.DO to make sure that it was correct and if you wish to correct the data, you may. Then you can re-enter SLICER.BA and rerun the program, remembering to kill the S^^^^X.DO files created before you rerun SLICER.BA. If you use SLICER.BA and want to be notified of upgrades of SLICER.BA and future software for the BOOSTER PAK then send $10 to: John J. Guadreault NOTE:There is a minor bug 904 N. 47 AVE. in B/P (up to V1.23) that Omaha, Ne 68132 may cause BASIC to miss error trapping routines.
