SROM05.TIP by Algis Kaupas [73327,3157] September 9, 1986 This is the documentataion for SROM04.TIP, an overtime calculator that uses the TBL function in Lucid. SROM04.TIP requires Lucid on Superrom and CHANGE.BA from DL4. (If you're downloading CHANGE.BA for the first time, be sure to also download CHANGE.DOC.) INSTRUCTIONS ON CHANGING THE HEX FILE TO .CA FORM: 1. Go to the end of the HEX file SROM04.TIP. Delete extra carriage returns and DL2! prompt. 2. Last line of file should read: 184870 3. Go to the start of the file. The first line of the file we want is: 56450 57966 0 Delete anything before this. 4. To partially verify that the file didn't get garbled in transmission, use DOWNCK.WM3 from DL4. The checksum should be 163,117. 4. Using CHANGE.BA: a. As a precaution, save the HEX file to tape or disk, and backup whatever RAM files you wouldn't want to lose. b. CHANGE.BA from the main menu. You'll see a menu of the files in RAM, and labels above the cursor keys. c. Using the arrow keys, put cursor over SROM04.DO (or whatever you called the file when downloading it). d. Press F2, which is labelled >BIN. This will change the HEX file to binary (machine language) format. e. The following prompt will appear on your screen: ".CO output file:" f. Type in the name you want the file to have. (I used OTCALC.) Press < ENTER>. g. The screen will change to: ".CO output file: OTCALC Working..." h. After about two minutes, your M100 will beep, and you'll be prompted "Kill hex input file (Y/N)?" Since you already have the hex file on tape or disk, answer Y to save memory. i. Put the cursor over the OTCALC.CO (or whatever you called it)file name and press F3, labelled >CA, to change the .CO file to a .CA file usable by Lucid. j. The new name will instantly appear inside the widebar cursor. If Super is already on the menu, with the cursor still over OTCALC.CA (or whatever name you used), press . k. If Super is not on the main menu, use F8 to exit to main MENU and access Super and then Lucid in the usual way (call 63012 in Basic, hit F1 to get into Lucid). When you see the prompt: Lucid file? , type in OTCALC (or whatever name you used), press and you're there! USING THE OVERTIME CALCULATOR: Type in number of hours worked in B5, press . Type in day rate (rate for an 8-hour day) in B6, press . Press F2 (Cal). That's it! DESCRIPTION OF OTCALC (NABET overtime calculator): The overtime structure is based on the commercials contract for the National Association of Broadcast Engineers and Technicians Local 15. (Minimum charge of 8 hrs, time-and-a half for work above 8 hrs but not beyond 12, double time for work above 12 hrs but not beyond 16, triple time for work above 16 hours.) It can be adapted to other overtime structures, and could, I imagine, become part of an invoicing system. A1:D6 are the combined input and result screen. (Note: cells D1:D6 are protected against entry. To play around with the formulas there, they must be unprotected first.) F3:J9 contains Table 1, which is set up to work out the charges for the various overtime categories based on the inputs in B5 and B6. L1:N7 contains Table 2, which works out totals, average $ per working hour, and returns the message "RENEGOTIATE!" for input hours above 20, which is my opinion of insanely long days. This is probably not the ideal structure for the calculator, since the order of calculation jumps back and forth a bit, but it works. I could upload a fuller description of how this template works, and thoughts on how to change it to fit other overtime structures, if anyone would like. Happy o.t.'ing!
