1 ' FOOLEM.200 (For Tandy 200 only) 2 ' By Steve Zimmerman 73226,3504; Based on FOOLEM.100 by Tony Anderson; 3 ' Based (in turn) on the program USEFUL.100 by Don Zeikel 4 ' 5 ' This program simulates an empty Tandy 200, with a blank menu screen. 6 ' Run this program to shut your computer off, and then, when the computer is 7 ' turned on, this program runs, and it looks like there are no programs or 8 ' files in RAM. Meanwhile, a password has been set up, and any keyboard 9 ' input becomes part of a temporary string, which is checked against the 10 ' actual password. If the length of this string exceeds the length of the 11 ' password, the program branches to check the string against the password. 12 ' If they match, you get the real menu. If they don't match, your Tandy 13 ' shuts off! On the screen, however, the big cursor over BASIC doesn't move 14 ' so it looks like the computer won't take any input. Likewise, pressing 15 ' shuts the computer off - unless you press at the end of 16 ' the password! This may well (as Tony said) Fool'em! 17 ' Put your six-character password in the last line of the program. To 18 ' change the length of the password, change P=6 (line 210) to the length you 19 ' need. By the way, if you forget your password, will let 20 ' you in. C will do the same. I didn't try to make this program THAT 21 ' secure - just secure enough to keep those who like to play with the keys 22 ' from doing so. This could be enhanced to provide greater security, so 23 ' feel free to do so if you wish. Also feel free to delete these remarks 24 ' if you wish to save bytes. Thanks to Tony Anderson for the idea here - 25 ' this program was FUN to work on! 26 ' 100 SCREEN0,0:CLS:POWEROFF,RESUME 110 DATA"Jan","Feb","Mar","Apr","May","Jun","Jul","Aug","Sep","Oct","Nov","Dec" 120 D=VAL(LEFT$(DATE$,2)):FORA=1TOD:READD$:NEXT 130 PRINT@0,D$" "MID$(DATE$,4,2)",19"RIGHT$(DATE$,2)" "DAY$" "TIME$" #1 (C)Microsoft" 140 PRINT@40,CHR$(27)"p BASIC "CHR$(27)"q TEXT TELCOM ADDRSS SCHEDL MSPLAN "; 150 FORA%=1TO46:PRINT"-.-";SPACE$(7);:NEXT 160 PRINT@600,"Bank"; 170 PRINT@615,"Copy Kill"; 180 PRINT@583,"19590 Bytes free" 190 PRINT@16,TIME$ 200 A$=INKEY$:IFA$=""THEN190 210 IFP=6THEN270 220 IFA$=CHR$(13)THEN270 230 IFA$=CHR$(8)ORA$=CHR$(127)THEN260 240 IFASC(A$)>96ANDASC(A$)<123THENA$=CHR$(ASC(A$)-32) 250 P=P+1:B$=B$+A$:GOTO190 260 P=P-1:GOTO190 270 IFB$="FOOLEM"THENMENUELSEB$="":P=0:RESTORE:GOTO100
