Dear X-TEL 2.1 owners: There is a bug in this version of X-TEL which can cause .DO files downloaded with XMODEM to be placed in a file other than the intended one, or in the paste buffer. Fortunately, this can be remedied with the following handy patch program. This patch program will alter your X-TEL.CO file to remove the bug. In order for the patch to work, your X-TEL.BA and X-TEL.CO files must be in RAM (as opposed to disk or cassette). This means that you must already have performed the loading process; the loading program X-TEL.DO cannot be patched. Before you attempt these patches, you must first start X-TEL on your computer by selecting X-TEL.BA from the Main Menu. This is also a handy opportunity to make sure that you have X-TEL 2.1 and not some earlier or later version. After starting X-TEL and verifying the version number, exit immediately to the Main Menu by hitting [F8]:Menu. Then, go into BASIC, type "NEW" and press [Enter], and then key in one of the two following programs depending on which computer you own. Don't use the wrong one... a cold start could be the result! For the Model 100: 10 LOADM"X-TEL" 20 T=PEEK(64206)+256*PEEK(64207) 30 E=PEEK(64208)+256*PEEK(64209)+T-1 40 X=PEEK(64210)+256*PEEK(64211) 50 POKE T+550,165 60 POKE T+551,249 70 POKE T+552,0 80 POKE T+34,50 90 SAVEM"X-TEL",T,E,X For the Model 200: 10 LOADM"X-TEL" 20 T=PEEK(62715)+256*PEEK(62716) 30 E=PEEK(62717)+256*PEEK(62718)+T-1 40 X=PEEK(62719)+256*PEEK(62720) 50 POKE T+549,160 60 POKE T+550,242 70 POKE T+551,0 80 POKE T+34,50 90 SAVEM"X-TEL",T,E,X After performing the patch, restart X-TEL from the Main menu to verify that no errors have occurred. The version number should now read 2.2, to let you know that the patch has been performed.
